To watch the sun rise behind a grove of tall Hawke’s Bay gums, to the chortling of magpies, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d been dropped into rural New South Wales. There are plenty of places in New Zealand where, had you just been teleported in, you’d struggle to get your bearings.
